ShoreSOX® Case Study
Blackstone Country Club
Location
Peoria, Arizona
Certified Service Provider
Pro Turf International (PTI)
System
1,100 LF of 6 FT ShoreSOX

Key Steps

Site Preparation
The course lowered pond levels to create dry, stable working conditions.
Anchoring System
PTI crews drove upper and lower anchors using hammer drills and gas augers to penetrate dense subgrade.
Assembly and Fill
The mesh was sewn, tethered, and filled with locally sourced material to rebuild the shoreline.
Aesthetic Finish
Sod and native desert material bonded with landscape polymer blended into the stabilized area into the surrounding environment.
Problem
The irrigation pond at Blackstone Country Club’s Hole 4 became unstable from fluctuating water levels, causing erosion, exposed liners, and jeopardizing the course’s playability and infrastructure.
Previous erosion control methods failed to provide lasting stability or natural aesthetics, and the steep, compacted desert terrain complicated access for maintenance and repair. The club sought a sustainable, low-impact solution that could restore the pond’s structure without disrupting play or irrigation operations.

Solution
When traditional methods failed to control erosion along the irrigation pond, Pro Turf International (PTI), a SOX Certified Service Provider (CSP), implemented ShoreSOX to restore stability and protect the shoreline.
Using the 6 FT ShoreSOX system, PTI installed 1,100 linear feet of bioengineered shoreline protection along the fairway edge of Hole 4. The team rebuilt the slope, reinforced the pond’s edge, and achieved a clean, natural finish that met both structural and aesthetic goals.
The system’s unique design, combining anchored mesh containment, sustainable fill, and vegetative integration, enabled PTI to overcome Arizona’s compact soils, fluctuating water levels, and limited site access.
Outcome
Pro Turf International (PTI) delivered a durable, visually seamless shoreline restoration that exceeded Blackstone Country Club’s expectations.
Through the installation of 1,100 linear feet of SOX, PTI stabilized the eroded pond banks, rebuilt the slope profile, and created a reinforced edge designed to withstand daily irrigation fluctuations. The system’s proven combination of anchored containment, sustainable fill, and vegetative integration ensured both immediate structural stability and long-term resilience.
The finished installation blended naturally with the surrounding fairway and desert landscape, meeting the course’s aesthetic goals while restoring functional integrity to the irrigation pond.
Beyond the project itself, the successful installation showcased how SOX systems empower Certified Service Providers like PTI to deliver environmentally responsible shoreline solutions across the golf and landscape industries.
